The Annual Bayard Rustin Community Breakfast, now in its 34th year, will return to the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum on April 13, 2024. The Breakfast is an event of Fenway Health – the state’s leading provider of prevention and wellness services for people living with and at-risk of HIV/AIDS – for LGBTQ+ people from communities of color to inform, affirm, and empower all in the continuing HIV/AIDS crisis.

John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum
in Boston, MA.
Registration is required and closes on Sunday, 4/7 at midnight.
We invite a suggested donation of $20. We welcome donations of any amount that you are able to give.
The Breakfast theme for this year is: “30+ years of HIV/AIDS: Did The Communities Come Together?”
Renée Graham, Boston Globe opinion columnist, associate editor, and author of the weekly newsletter, OUTTAKES, is this year’s Keynote Speaker. She has been a columnist since 2016 and writes about race and racism, domestic violence, LGBTQ issues and discrimination, police violence, gun reform, and politics. She has written for Essence magazine and Radcliffe Magazine and her essays have appeared in the books, “Out in America: A Portrait of Gay and Lesbian Life” and “Wake Up America: Black Women on the Future of Democracy.” A frequent guest on MSNBC, Graham has been a prominent commentator in numerous acclaimed documentaries including the Peabody Award-winning “We Need to Talk About Cosby” on Showtime; “The Two Killings of Sam Cooke” on Netflix; CNN’s “See It Loud: The History of Black Television,” and “1968: The Year That Changed America.”
During the event, the Belynda A. Dunn Award for Activism and Bayard Rustin Award for Courage will be presented, Awardees to be announced. This annual celebration is named in honor of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay, African-American civil rights leader.
ABOUT BAYARD RUSTIN
Bayard Rustin, one of the unsung heroes of the civil rights movement, was an openly gay, African-American leader actively engaged in social movements of the 1950s and 1960s. Bayard went on to become the chief organizer of the 1963 March on Washington. In 2013 he received the presidential medal of honor presented to him posthumously by President Obama for his work of social justice and change.

AIDS Action is New England’s largest provider of services to people living with HIV/AIDS and populations at risk of infection. ABOUT THE BREAKFAST
Founded by members of the community in 1990 and created by AIDS Action Committee, now a division of Fenway Health. BRCB is an annual HIV/AIDS awareness event for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender+ people from communities of color to inform, affirm and empower us all in the continuing HIV/AIDS crisis. Historically, a central core to the Bayard Rustin Breakfast has been to use art—in all of its forms—as a strategy to educate, sustain hope and mobilize LGBTQ+ communities of color to become energized in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
This year’s Bayard Rustin Community Breakfast is dedicated to all those who continue to work towards getting to Zero infections caused by HIV/AIDS.
COVID-19 PROTOCOLS
- To better align our policies with state and city guidelines, COVID-19 vaccinations are encouraged but will not be required.
- Please be aware that we will be conducting basic COVID-19 symptom screening at the door.
- If you are feeling symptomatic on the day of the event, we ask that you remain at home for the safety of our community and that you notify Adrianna Boulin that you will not be able to attend
- The City of Boston recommends that masks be worn in settings where there may be individuals who are immunocompromised, seniors, and people who are unvaccinated. We invite guests to partner with us to keep our community safe by wearing their masks when not eating or drinking.
